TMA 4000 is ideal for measuring expansion of small components and low expansion rates – circuit boards, component materials, and more. TMA can detect very weak transitions that would not be visible in DSC or DTA, such as the solid-solid transition in polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) at around 20 °C.
 
Using a unique Archimedean float system to control the probe, accurate determination of the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and of transitions is allowed. Interchangeable probe design allows quick switching between expansion, flexure, extension, and various penetration probes.

The temperature sensor of TMA 4000 is precalibrated to give a precise temperature readout, while calibrations to improve accuracy under difficult sampling or fast-scanning conditions are simple to follow.
